As both a therapist and a fellow therapy-goer, I understand that starting therapy can come with questions and concerns. Here are some common questions I’ve gathered to help put your mind at ease.

Practical Enquiries

  1. How will I communicate with you about booking and scheduling?
For scheduling and other administrative purposes, we will communicate via WhatsApp or email, depending on your preference. In the booking registration Google Form, you’ll indicate your preferred method, which I will follow.

  2. When and how do I make the payment?
Please make the payment within 48 hours of booking and confirming the appointment slot. The slot will only be secured once payment is made. At present, I accept payment via online bank transfer. If you prefer another payment option, feel free to let me know so we can discuss it.

  3. Can I make a last-minute booking?
It’s best to book a session at least 24 hours in advance (for online sessions). This allows me adequate time to prepare, complete documentation, and ensure a smooth session.

  4. What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel, please notify me at least 24 hours before the session. Cancellations less than 24 hours or no-shows will still be charged the full session fee, as late cancellations can prevent other clients from securing a spot. Take note that this is only applicable for online sessions.

  5. Do you provide refunds if I cancel my session?
No, refunds will not be provided, but payments can be transferred as credit to reschedule a session

  6. What if I arrive late to the session? Can I extend the session?
For online sessions, I am generally more flexible and may be able to adjust within reason, depending on my availability. If you think you might be late, please let me know in advance, and I’ll do my best to accommodate you.

  7. Can I book the mental health screening more than once?
No, the mental health screening is intended as an introductory session and can only be booked once. For ongoing support, individual therapy sessions are available.

  8. Why is the 4-session package (online therapy) only valid for 4 months?
The 4-month validity period is to encourage clients to maintain a consistent therapy schedule. Regular sessions help build momentum and allow us to work together more effectively toward your therapy goals. Of course, life happens, so if you’re unable to finish the sessions within the period, we can discuss possible extensions on a case-by-case basis.

  9. Do you provide 24/7 crisis care?
No, I do not provide 24/7 crisis care. If you’re in a crisis, please call the free 24-hour hotlines: Talian Kasih at 15999 or Befrienders at 03-79568145 for immediate support. In emergencies, call 999 or go to your nearest hospital.

  10. Do you offer any free consultations?
I currently do not offer free consultations. However, the Mental Health Screening service can be a useful, lower-commitment option to assess your needs and see if we’re a good fit before committing to regular therapy sessions.

Therapy-Related Enquiries

  1. What should I expect in therapy?
Therapy experiences vary, but generally, you can expect a safe, non-judgmental space to share and process your thoughts and feelings. Therapy can also help you gain insights into your issues and develop healthy coping strategies. I will work with you to set therapy goals and develop a treatment plan. Rather than offering direct advice, I’ll provide guidance and act as a sounding board, empowering you to make your own decisions.

  2. How many sessions will I need, and how frequently should I attend therapy?
The number of sessions depend on your individual needs and circumstances. Some clients attend a few sessions to help them get through difficult transition periods, while others engage in ongoing therapy (for months or years) for long-term struggles and maintenance.

For frequency of sessions, its recommended to attend regular sessions on a weekly or bi-weekly basis for a start. This is also why I offer a discounted 4-session package (online therapy) to help you commit to your mental health journey. Feel free to discuss with me any time about adjusting the frequency of your sessions.

  3. Can I provide updates on my mental health outside of therapy sessions (e.g., via WhatsApp)?
Yes, I’m open to receiving brief updates on your mental health journey via WhatsApp or email. For more in-depth discussions, however, I recommend bringing these to our scheduled sessions to ensure we have ample time to explore them.

  4. Is Keen2Heal a mental health centre/clinic?
No, Keen2Heal is not a mental health center or clinic. It is my independent practice, where I offer therapy services online. This setup helps keep costs low, allowing me to provide therapy at more affordable rates.
